01 · The story

My career has been dedicated to helping people recover.

My career has been dedicated to helping people recover from hand, wrist and upper limb injuries.

After qualifying as a physiotherapist, I specialised in hand therapy and joined the team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK's leading centres for hand surgery. There, I worked closely with specialist hand surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, treating everything from acute injuries and complex trauma to post-operative rehabilitation and long-term hand conditions.

Those years gave me invaluable experience managing a wide variety of conditions and a deep understanding of how the hand functions, heals and recovers. They also reinforced something I continue to believe today: successful rehabilitation is about more than exercises alone. It is about understanding what matters most to each individual and creating a treatment plan that helps them return to the activities that are important to them.

In 2021, I moved into private practice, where I have continued to develop my expertise across a broad range of hand, wrist and upper limb conditions. My career has included leading one of London's largest private hand therapy teams and treating everyone from office workers and tradespeople to professional athletes and musicians whose careers depend on the function of their hands.

Today, I run Jen Parr Hand Therapy, providing specialist one-to-one assessment and treatment for hand, wrist and upper limb conditions. My approach combines expert clinical knowledge with clear communication, practical advice and personalised rehabilitation, ensuring every patient receives the time, attention and specialist care they deserve.

Consistent care throughout your recovery.

Recovering from a hand or wrist injury often takes time, and continuity of care can make a real difference to the rehabilitation process.

When you book with me, you will see the same therapist throughout your treatment. From your initial assessment to your final appointment, I will be the person guiding your rehabilitation, monitoring your progress and adapting your treatment plan as your recovery evolves.

Where appropriate, I work closely with hand surgeons, consultants and GPs to ensure your rehabilitation complements any wider medical care you are receiving. Having worked within multidisciplinary teams throughout my career, I understand the value of clear communication and a joined-up approach to patient care.

I keep my caseload deliberately focused so that every patient receives the time, attention and specialist input they need. Treatment is tailored to your individual circumstances, goals and lifestyle, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

  • The same therapist throughout your rehabilitation
  • Close collaboration with surgeons, consultants and GPs when appropriate
  • Dedicated appointment time focused on your recovery
  • Individualised treatment plans tailored to your goals
  • Particular expertise in treating musicians, performers, athletes and those whose work relies on fine motor skills

Jennifer has been an invaluable support in my recovery from a broken arm post-surgery, and in the process of returning to play drumkit. She brings a wealth of expertise and specialist knowledge as well as warmth and encouragement to each session. She has a good understanding of the nuances of my practice as a musician and she offers clear and considered guidance. At each review point she adjusts my programme of physio where needed, so it feels very responsive and tailored to my needs. Her reassuring and positive attitude have helped give me confidence in my capacity after a traumatic accident. Can't recommend her enough.
